The Times Are Changin'

Tomorrow marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
At some point, every generation views our country in a somewhat terminal & hopeless light. After the assassination, it seemed that our country was in a complete state of mourning with little chance of sunshine. Author Al Sussman has examined our nation during the 101 days following the assassination of President Kennedy in his new book:  Changin' Times: 101 Days That Shaped a Generation.
The JFK assassination is generally something everyone who was mature enough to understand can easily recall. While numerous events were already simmering (civil rights & Vietnam, for example) - the shocking assassination of our President was a blow to the nation & the world. As an esteemed editor for Beatlefan Magazine, Al (Mr. Beatles Encyclopedia,) has filled his spare time researching this interesting time span in American history.  I was fortunate to preview the book & found it absolutely delicious. As Marc Bolan of T. Rex wrote, "Book after book, I get hooked everytime the writer talks to me like a friend," and that is precisely the case in Al's Changin' Times.
Tune in to hear about not only the political & social changes occurring in our country...but what in the world did those mop-haired boys from Liverpool add to the mix? The media painted many interesting pictures about the state of our country & citizens during those 101 days & I guarantee you'll enjoy Al's interesting perspective!

Al is my radio show guest TODAY at 2:00 pm CST & you can listen live or check out the archived episode.  The show is found at this link:

Music Nugget for the Day:

This song came on my radio last night & as I listened to it, I realized that it was very appropriate for today's blog, as it speaks to past & future generations. It was released in 2006 by Mr. John Mayer - "Waiting On The World to Change" ... yes, we are Mr. Mayer.
