An Invitation....

I recently watched "George Harrison: Living In The Material World", which is a Martin Scorcese documentary containing stunning interviews with George Harrison's family, friends and business partners. The film is absolutely terrific & I highly suggest you watch it soon. At the beginning of the show Scorcese asks various people what they want to say to George.. and Dhani Harrison, George's son, immediately answered "Where Are You?"  I completely understand Dhani's emotion because I've been asking my dear, dear friend, Maggie McHugh, that question for nearly a year.

Margaret Mary McHugh (Maggie or Mags), lit up the room when she walked in with her humor, spirit, wisdom and beauty. So many people were touched by her in ways too numerous to know or count; she was someone who truly made a difference in our "Material World."

Margaret loved the Beatles. In celebration of her life, her mother, Flo McHugh, niece & nephew Annie & Mac, Keith and myself would like to invite all of you to a "concert for Mags."

On Saturday, October 6, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., we will be at Genkota Winery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.  Beatles tribute band: The Beatle Brothers, will perform and the concert is free of charge.  Wine, beverages & food will be available for purchase. The Beatle Bros will play from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

I know that she went to a much better place where she was needed to continue making a brilliant difference. I appreciate all of the warm wishes and encouragement that you've given me to support what she called "her baby," Recipe Records. If you are interested in getting a copy of the book, I will be at the winery signing copies from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

I look forward to seeing everyone & hope you can come and celebrate this beautiful, free spirit. ..  Maggie McHugh.

John Lennon....

Over the years I've noticed that Beatle fans tend to choose a "favorite one" ...similar to choosing, say...a flavor of ice cream.  I've often wondered if loving a particular Beatle coincided with a particular personality trait.

For those of us who have a favorite Beatle, I have planned a series of 4 internet radio programs which are dedicated to John, George, Paul and Ringo and I invite you to tune in for the fun.

This Thursday, my guest will be the lovely Jude Southerland Kessler, an author from Louisiana who has written several books in her 9-volume expanded biography on the life of John Lennon. Her latest addition She Loves You, is due out in only a few weeks. Happily, while meandering through my various book paths, I met Jude and have found her to be not only an incredible author, but a sophisticated, passionate human being who cares for mankind in the same realm as did John Lennon.  Her books are for the John Lennon fan who is craving the most information you can find about the artist; having been eloquently written and containing extensively researched data. Check out her critically acclaimed books at www.johnlennonseries.com

For those George, Paul & Ringo fans, after hearing Jude's interview about John...she might recruit YOU as a Lennon fan!

Don't miss the show LIVE on Thursday, September 20, at 4:00 p.m. - Call in to speak with Jude!

It was enlightening to interview Jay Buchanan, lead singer of
rockin' band RIVAL SONS, from Los Angeles, on my blog talk radio show yesterday. Jay was very open and honest about how he fell into a rock & roll band by somewhat of an accident. Having grown up with blues and soul music influences, he developed a passion for more pure, soulful music rather than the cookie cutter rock music that tends to be produced for mainstream listeners.
After the guys had a casual jam session, they quickly discovered there was a natural chemistry together and as they say........they rolled with it.

You can listen to the show anytime by clicking on the following link. Yeah, 'blondie' has a few more glitches to work out...but it's getting there....

Check out everything you need to know about Rival Sons at     www.rivalsons.com

I have all of their music and yes, I encourage you to take a listen. The band members have impressive musical training and backgrounds which equates into finely produced music. By the way, we aren't talking random, casual lyrics either....Jay explained one song to me that was so deep I could hardly follow his path...I was happy to move on with the conversation ... it takes someone with strong shoulders to poke fun at themselves, eh?

I have a request also --- please call your rock radio station & request that they play the Rival Sons on their airwaves....yeah, Becky....you can do it .....

Thank you for listening to the show & supporting the cause of Rock & Roll....

Peace & Rock & Roll,
