A Roseanne Friendship.....

Friendship is the name of the game this week. Straight out of Lanford, Illinois, the Conners have arrived: aka Nicole Michael, Shannon Pocock & Jeff Dundas.
I had the extreme pleasure of hanging with these "movie stars" on their recent pilgrimage to Evansville to view the "Roseanne house" & Lobo Lounge, which are portrayed in the popular TV sitcom "Roseanne."
The trio made a 7-hour journey from Grand Rapids, Michigan for
photo-ops at what is known in Evansville as the "Roseanne house," and partake of a cold beer at the Lobo Lounge (which is now Al's Bar.) Advertising copywriters, Nicole & Jeff, along with Shannon, a graphic designer, spent the weekend "touring" Evansville and even befriended the neighbors of the famed home in the meantime (not surprising though because Nicole, Shannon & Jeff are charming!) The Evansville house was chosen to be used in the show's opening credits by one of the sitcom's first season producers who had attended school here & the house is a local fame spot.

These Michigan buds bonded over Roseanne's episode where "they went to get the loan to open the loose meat restaurant," which of course, now makes me want 1) to watch that episode and 2) to eat loose meat sandwiches (which I think are nearly the same as the 'beef burgers' @ The Burger Bar in Carrollton, MO.) I applaud the friendship that the trio has forged from their comedic interest.
I enjoyed Roseanne in the late 80's/early 90's & found the lack of perfection among Roseanne & her on-camera family to be refreshing; her attention to social issues was groundbreaking as well. It's difficult, if not impossible, to watch an episode without breaking into full belly laughter...

Nicole, Shannon & Jeff also spent a little time at one of my fave joints: Grandpa's...the home of 40,000 record albums all at $1 ea! Life is full of surprises in Evansville ....
Hmmmm....perhaps we'll start some Roseanne Walking Tours here ..... Cheers to Nicole, Shannon & Jeff!!
