Yes, I'm Ready For Some Football....

Ahhh....the fall crispness is a reminder that football has arrived. I've always had a love of football. I vividly remember being at the home of my cigar-smoking great aunt in Colorado, watching Len Dawson, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, on tv when I was quite young...donning my white jersey with a red "16" on it. During the '90's I enjoyed watching Lenny give the news sportcasts in K.C. as well. The Chiefs were a source of joy and sometimes disappointment, but regardless of that, I always enjoyed cheering them on live at Arrowhead Stadium or on tv. The days of their "big backs" was crazy exciting, Christian Okoye (the Nigerian Nightmare), notably one of my favorite running backs.
It takes big shoulders, but I stand up in Evansville, Indiana and say that yes, I am proud to be a Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Football means a little more to me recently since my middle son plays on his high school team. I'm learning more about the plays and terminology than I ever knew before.
I've officially joined the ranks of other sideline mama bear cheerleaders/coaches.

I think that music is critical to an outdoor football game & consider stadium music to consist of 2 categories: The Jolt (designed to trigger adrenaline for the team & encourage victory) and The Kindle (songs that keep the crowd burning & supportive)

Here is a list of songs I designed to describe a football game where our team comes out pumped up & ready, kinda loses control a smidge, but pulls it together at the end for a sweet victory....

Gotta love them Chiefs! You can't be from here and not like them, even if you're closer to the Rams in St. Louis. When I lived in Kansas City there was the huge playoff game where the kicker Lyn Elliott missed the goal and botched the game. He had to leave town because of all the death threats, and other people in the phone book with his same name were incessantly harrassed.

Have fun at your son's games this season!
