Among them are Bob Dylan ("Things We Said Today"), B.B. King ("On the Way"), Smokey Robinson ("So Bad"), Barry Gibb ("When I'm 64"), Brian Wilson ("Wanderlust"), Billy Joel ("Maybe I'm Amazed" and "Live and Let Die"), Kiss ("Venus and Mars" and "Rock Show") and Willie Nelson ("Yesterday"). Producer Ralph Sall came up with the idea for the release around the time that he worked with McCartney on polishing up the song "A Love for You," which the Beatles recorded in the sessions for his 1971 solo album Ram, for inclusion on the In-Laws soundtrack. At the time, he asked McCartney's permission to make the release and even recruited some of the singer-songwriter's backing band. The first artist to agree to record a song for it was Wilson, who asked to do "Wanderlust" from McCartney's 1982 solo LP Tug of War.

Saturday I celebrated my 48th year on this planet, which is rather shocking because when I was a teenager, I knew that I would not live beyond the ancient age of 30. Lately I have been reflecting on life experiences and the journeys that I see many enduring, and I've noticed a similarity of real life to the board game "Chutes & Ladders." I read a little about the game on the world-wide-web & found that "Chutes & Ladders" was derived from a game in England called "Snakes & Ladders," which seems more appropriately labeled when you think about it. Even though the "Chutes & Ladders" board game is marketed for children, there is an underlying morality lesson contained within. If you plod along from box to box, you will more than likely land on a chute which will knock you back. Yet if you are lucky to land on a ladder, you will zoom up that wooden piece of success and perhaps win the game.
The irony of this board game has definitely been experienced within my life this past year. I'm very grateful for my health, family & friends, a newly published book, two budding girls' lacrosse teams and much more. However, I am cautious about my next turn at the game.....
