Crack Open Some Rosie...

I recently visited Blue Heron Winery located near Cannelton, Indiana and I found peace on the bluffs of the Ohio River. The vineyard/winery is nestled in the woods of Southern Indiana and it's serene and inviting....just like the wine. Overlooking the Ohio River and the Cannelton Locks and Dam at Rocky Point, Indiana, is a lovely tree house-like shoppe with deck, a patio of stone and an adorable pavilion (which would be gorgeous for a party or reception.)

Lynn & Gary Dauby, the most gracious hosts and owners of this productive winery, offer much more than fine wines. The couple's innovative, artistic vision created a gorgeous atmosphere which has been literally sculpted from the earth. Existing trees & rock found on the property were transformed into posts, walls, doors & more. Most notably is a celtic cross which was carved out of stone that is naturally located on the hillside. The cross dimensions are 20' x 22' x 4' & it's thought to be the largest Celtic Cross carved into a naturally found stone mass in the world. The couple commissioned Tell City sculptor, Greg Harris, to create this work of art along with other works on the property. Harris spent 23 months carving (6 days week long hours every day) this natural wonder.
In addition to the great wines, gift shoppe & grounds, the Daubys offer a beautiful bed & breakfast as well.
Check out their website & plan a trip there pronto!

Music Nugget of the Day:

I'm famous for misinterpreting song lyrics.  I always thought that Neil was singing about a chick in this song, but have read he was layin' it down for some good ole' rosie wine.
