BRITBEAT BEATLES TRIBUTE REVIEW:
Saturday night I took in BritBeat at the historic Indiana Theatre in Terre Haute, IN. I should have prepared ahead of time for my mind to be blown. The lads heated up the gorgeous theatre on a frigid November eve. While I have been a fan of this great band for about a decade, I knew that I would be taking in a great show. But I didn't anticipate how much pleasure would result from their music, costume, set, video and performance variations. It is impossible for me to describe every nuance that blew my mind: John's delicious banter with the band and the audience, George's AMAZING acoustic performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," the black and white Flintstones video where Fred and Barney are smoking Winston cigarettes and watching their wives do their chores, tribute to John Lennon's 75th birthday, Ed Sullivan and the Topo Gigio jokes, the video, the music, o m g. Please put it on your bucket list to see this band. They are the real deal.

Meet The Beatles!

While millions of fans were able to witness the Fabs live some 50 years ago, there was a nasty component to those performances:
thousands of screaming females drowning the articulate sounds of the boys.
Today we can celebrate the magic that John, Paul, George and Ringo created and intended the world to enjoy via a tribute band who really can "get back" to where you belong.

I can't "imagine" the amount of talent and drive it takes to emulate a group that is heralded as the best band to have ever lived. The costuming, the gear, the HAIR....and then there's
THE SOUND.
BritBeat, a tribute band from Chicago, is the complete package.
Those fabulous boys will be back in Indiana and they are planning an unforgettable show!

To be completely honest ... I've seen a lot of Beatles tribute bands. But these four boys from Chicago have become a favorite of our family and I believe you will "love them, too."
Don't miss my radio show this Thursday at 5:00 p.m. CST, as I interview "Paul" (aka Chris Getsla).
AND -- YOU CAN WIN TWO Tickets to see BritBeat, Saturday, November 21, in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Simply listen to the show live or the archived show (same link works for both) - and listen for Chris' answer to my trivia question. Email, facebook or tweet his answer to me and you will be entered in the contest to win:

Sorry Dos Equis, Ivor Davis is the Most Interesting Man in the World

Ivor Davis, author of "The Beatles and Me On Tour"
www.ivordavisbeatles.com
Who was the journalist that traveled with The Beatles for a 24-city tour in late summer, 1964?
Who was with The Beatles when they met their idol, Elvis Presley?
Who was with The Beatles when Bob Dylan introduced them to weed?
Who was a ghost writer for George Harrison?
Who played all night games of Monopoly with John Lennon?
Ivor and George
Additionally, who penned a book about the Manson murders that was used as a "blueprint for the prosecution?"
Who was there when Robert Kennedy was assassinated?
Who has covered stories about riots, floods, earthquakes and politics?

The world's most interesting man:  Ivor Davis.

The acutely brilliant, distinguished journalist recently recorded his rollicking adventures with The Beatles in 1964, when they conducted their first official tour of the U.S.
Davis was hand-picked by the London Daily Express, his British employer, to accompany The Beatles on their whirlwind tour. Davis was instructed to eat, drink, sleep and frolic with the boys and report the details with vitality.

I recently met Davis at The Fest for Beatles Fans in Chicago and was struck by his genuine charm. He never runs out of great stories, because he has observed and reported on some of the most important stories of our lifetime.
The Beatles and Me On Tour has to be one of the most enjoyable books I've ever read. Each chapter is jam-packed with tales that will surprise readers as Ivor recounts the 34 days he was part of The Beatles' "traveling circus." The stories have a smooth coating that allow you to savor the tale, but prompts a picture of the raucous inferno that enveloped John, Paul, George and Ringo.

Ivor Davis will be on my radio show Wednesday, September 9, at 4:00 p.m. CENTRAL time. Please tune in and call into the show if you have a question for him! The interview will be mesmerizing, I promise!
